Long Road to Jersey

rolled in mid day
and had a drink
talked to an old dog
and he made me think
that there, was something more than this

and little did I know,
i'd be sitting down
playing some guitar
in my deserted town
laughing and remembering I could smile

Taking the long Road to Jersey
I never would have realized
that heading back to where I'm from
to see that i'd been paralized

And there was joy back in Jersey
I was able to make a choice
There was joy back in jersey
and I found my voice

It made it simple
to make the break
from a part of life
that I couldn't take
and then I could start to build again

I decided to change
so within a day
I'd say good by to her
and was on my way
though it hurt me I took the path of men

Taking the long road from Jersey
I gritted my teeth and sighed
turning my fate into the wind
to revive my soul that died

And there was joy back in Jersey
I was able to make a choice
There was joy back in jersey
and I found my voice
